Welcome to Sensible Ideas For Today or SIFT.  I am starting this blog out of frustration with the political climate we find ourselves in.  Partisianship has never been greater, the rhetoric stronger or more negitive.  And above all, America's problems are not being fixed.

For the purpose of full disclosure, I started adulthood as a Republican.  I have spent the majority of my voting years as an Independent, but since 2008 having been "leaning" more and more left.  The fact is that I mostly agree with the Democrats, but I would vote for a Republican tomorrow if I felt their ideas were better.  But I think I am safe for now.

The purpose of SIFT is to vent our frustrations, share our sensible ideas for America's future, and hopefully change the political climate.  Some topics of concern to me that I would like  to cover are:

1)  The excessive mixing of religion and politics
2)  What seems to be a war on women
3)  The demonization of politicians and their politics
4)  The purposeful (or not!) use of misinformation
5)  The media's poor record of holding politicians accountable
6)  America's failure to lead in education, the environment and infrastructure
7)  Politician's failure to find solutions to hard problems before they become catastrophes
8)  And more............................
